We are looking for an excellent hair colourist to join our growing team. A vacancy exists for an experienced Colour Technician who wants to work as part of a great team at a one of Brighton’s leading hair salons with a reputation for excellence in our technical standards, training & education & customer service.

As Brighton’s preferred colour salon we have high demand for specialist/corrective colour and creative colour.  You will be required to demonstrate a high level of ability in bleach application, correction, colour blending, balayage and toning.

You will be working with our Creative Director & Redken Artist James Atkinson, Colour Specialist Corey Watts as well as some of the best stylists who have worked at the highest level in other leading UK salons.

Qualifications:

Minimum NVQ Level 2 in Hairdressing or equivalent

An advanced colour qualification is an advantage

Able to teach principles of colour, thorough understanding of colour wheel, undertones – enhancing and neutralising, pre-pigment and colour correction

Technical skills:

We are seeking a hairdresser with extensive experience and the highest standard of skills in the following techniques:

  • All aspects of colouring including correction (knowledge of Redken colour is an advantage)
  • A range of contemporary colour application techniques
  • Styling & finishing
  • Hair up styles (preferred but not essential)

Personal skills:

Salon Receptionist (part time)

As one of Brighton’s leading Hair & Beauty Salons we are looking to recruit an excellent Receptionist to join our team.

We are looking for a team member who has demonstrated excellent client care & organisation in previous roles, shows attention to detail and wants to work as part of a great team at an independent salon with a reputation for excellence. You will need to demonstrate that you understand what is required to achieve outstanding customer experiences in a very busy salon that continues to grow as a result of great teamwork and our great reputation.

We pride ourselves in providing a friendly, personalised service to all our clients and require a candidate who is calm under pressure, warm, welcoming and is confident in dealing with a very diverse range of clients.

Front of house is a central role to the successful operation of the salon with joint responsibility for the client customer service and managing a large schedule with well over 200 appointment bookings per week. The role is demanding requiring the successful candidate to be disciplined, pro-active and be able to multi-task under pressure in a busy salon environment.

You will be fully aware of the business revenue and have targets for salon key performance metrics. You will receive a generous bonus payment for each week key performance targets are achieved.

As Receptionist you will also have responsibility for product recommendations. The retail sales business, including promotions and managing our online social media. You will have the opportunity to work with some of the leading brands in hair care including Kerastase, ghd, Redken, L’Oreal, Moroccanoil & Pureology and attend product events.

This position would suit a motivated individual who is keen to be involved in a vibrant salon environment, & has previous experience or a similar role in a luxury service company.  Previous experience in a hair salon environment and knowledge of hair services and hair care products is an advantage but most important is a desire to learn and become knowledgeable in our products and services.

If successful you will undergo a comprehensive training programme to cover all aspects of the role.

Capabilities required:

You will be required to demonstrate the following capabilities:

  • Be smartly presented, with a desire to always be helpful to clients and the team
  • Able to communicate clearly, calmly, politely and effectively in person and on the phone with clients.
  • Able to multi-task and work under pressure with many competing demands

Key responsibilities:

  • Use of state of the art salon management system to book appointments and manage a large salon diary of more than 10 stylist
  • Monitoring schedule status throughout the day and ensuring we respond pro-actively to changes in the schedule.
  • Managing client information and processing transactions
  • End of day reconciling and reporting
  • Taking phone calls and booking appointments
  • Key first and last point of contact for clients during their visit
  • Rebooking of client to ensure client satisfaction for next appointment time
  • Weekly updates of retail displays and attracting customers through eye catching window displays.
  • Being able to effectively recommend hair products based on clients requirements
  • Data entry of customer details and maintenance of client database
  • Responding to client enquiries via email & social media
  • Will have a full knowledge of all the services and prices offered

Conditions:

  • The position is part time and typical hours are Sunday (10:45am to 5:15pm), Monday (9:45am to 6:30pm), Wednesday (5pm to 8:30pm) & Friday (9am to 1pm).
  • The position is a job share requiring the candidate to provide leave cover for the other front of house team members.

Apprentice Stylist/Hairdressing Apprentice

As one of Brighton’s leading hair salons North Laine Hair Company is now recruiting for apprenticeships in hairdressing at its salon in the heart of the busy and fashionable North Laine district of Brighton. Vacancies exist for apprentice stylists who want to work as part of a dynamic, creative and successful team at an independent salon with a reputation for excellence.

The apprentice training programme is very important to our salon as it trains and educates our next generation of stylists and colourists. The programme is led by the Salon Director and her team who will both train and mentor you in all aspects of your development. You will have the opportunity to work alongside a team of some of the best hairdressers in Brighton who will support your training and development in cutting, styling and colouring. We are different as we enable our stylists to become expert cutting and colouring technicians so you are able to express your full creativity as a stylist once qualified (Many other leading salon groups require stylists to choose either cutting or colouring once qualified). As a Redken & ghd elite salon you will have the opportunity to be trained by some of the best educators in the industry.

We are looking to recruit a creative and passionate individual who learns quickly and has a strong desire to work to the highest professional standards. No previous experience is necessary as full training will be provided. You will be trained initially to NVQ level 2 whilst receiving your apprenticeship salary. On completion of your NVQ level 2, if succesful, you will have the opportunity to progress to NVQ Level 3 and have the opportunity to audition to join the ghd junior artistic team (Style Squad).

This position would suit a highly motivated individual who has a passion for hair and fashion and a strong desire to develop their skills to the level of an excellent graduate stylist and beyond.

  • Fundamentals of colouring (colour theory, tints, high/low lights)
  • Front of house
  • Hair care product knowledge
Conditions
  • The position is a paid full time position (5 days a week incl. weekend working)
  • In salon training takes place once every week
