Salon Front of House & Receptionist Apprenticeship (NVQ Level 2/3) Apprenticeships Brighton

We are looking to recruit an Apprentice who shows attention to detail and wants to work as part of a great team at an independent salon with a reputation for excellence.  Your apprenticeship will initially result in achievement of a Level 2 NVQ Diploma in Customer Service.  This apprenticeship covers customer service, managing diary systems, event organisation, use of social media for customer service, marketing & development of working relationships with colleagues.

On successful completion of your Level 2 qualification you will then embark on your advanced Level 3 qualification learning in more depth on all aspects of managing a large salon.  Your training will primarily be based in-salon whilst attending college in Brighton for a day a week.  You will receive comprehensive training in all aspects of the salon operation, services and products used.

As a successful candidate you will need to have demonstrated pro-activity in extra-curricular activities and a strong enthusiasm for learning.  The role is demanding requiring you to be calm under pressure, able to multi-task, welcoming and confident in dealing with people in a very busy salon environment.

As a Front of House team member you will also have responsibility for supporting the retail sales business including promotions and contributing to our online presence such as social media.  You will have the opportunity to work with some of the leading brands in hair care including ghd, Redken, Moroccanoil & Pureology, attend training and product events at brand locations, particularly Redken in central London.

Training provided:

Your training will primarily be based in-salon whilst attending college in Brighton for a day a week.

Key responsibilities:

  • Managing and optimising salon schedule and taking bookings
  • Managing client information and processing transactions
  • End of day reconciling and reporting
  • Taking phone calls and booking appointments
  • Key first and last point of contact for clients during their visit
  • Managing retail business (product knowledge training given)
  • Data entry of customer details
  • Managing the salon social media
  • Will have a full knowledge of all the services and prices offered
  • Stock reporting, monitoring and ordering
  • Maintain salon in a clean and tidy order
  • Help with the running of the laundry & keeping staff area clean and tidy

CONDITIONS:

  • The position is a paid full time and typical hours are 37 hours per week (5 days a week incl. weekend working)
  • The position is a job share requiring the candidate to provide leave cover for the other front of house team members

As one of Brighton’s leading hair salons North Laine Hair Company is now recruiting for apprenticeships in hairdressing at its salon in the heart of the busy and fashionable North Laine district of Brighton. Vacancies exist for apprentice stylists who want to work as part of a dynamic, creative and successful team at an independent salon with a reputation for excellence.

The apprentice training programme is very important to our salon as it trains and educates our next generation of stylists and colourists. The programme is led by the Salon Director and her team who will both train and mentor you in all aspects of your development. You will have the opportunity to work alongside a team of some of the best hairdressers in Brighton who will support your training and development in cutting, styling and colouring. We are different as we enable our stylists to become expert cutting and colouring technicians so you are able to express your full creativity as a stylist once qualified (Many other leading salon groups require stylists to choose either cutting or colouring once qualified). As a Redken & ghd elite salon you will have the opportunity to be trained by some of the best educators in the industry.

We are looking to recruit a creative and passionate individual who learns quickly and has a strong desire to work to the highest professional standards. No previous experience is necessary as full training will be provided. You will be trained initially to NVQ level 2 whilst receiving your apprenticeship salary. On completion of your NVQ level 2, if succesful, you will have the opportunity to progress to NVQ Level 3 and have the opportunity to audition to join the ghd junior artistic team (Style Squad).

This position would suit a highly motivated individual who has a passion for hair and fashion and a strong desire to develop their skills to the level of an excellent graduate stylist and beyond.

Qualifications

Minimum 5 GCSE passes (incl. English, Maths & Science) or equivalent

Training Content

You will be trained to exceed NVQ level 2 in the following areas through a combination of practical training in salon and theory in conjunction with the local college:

  • How to perform consultations
  • Shampoo and conditioning technique, science of hair composition
  • Fundamentals of & cutting (sectioning, lines, layering, graduation, fringes, texturising)
  • Fundamentals of styling (wet & dry setting, blow drying, curling & straightening with irons, plaits, basic hair up styles)
  • Fundamentals of colouring (colour theory, tints, high/low lights)
  • Front of house
  • Hair care product knowledge
Conditions
  • The position is a paid full time position (5 days a week incl. weekend working)
  • In salon training takes place once every week
  • Staff discount on products and hair services
