A vacancy exists for a Senior Hair Stylist who wants to work as part of a great team at a Brighton hair salon with a reputation for excellence in our customer service and technical standards. We are looking to recruit a creative and passionate stylist who works to the highest professional standards and enjoys learning and educating (particularly apprentice stylists). The salon was established in 2007 and has grown to a team of 16 and continues to grow having recently opening a second floor. A great reputation and high demand means you will have the opportunity to quickly build a large client base and work with a very welcoming, dedicated and capable team.

As a Redken elite & ghd destination salon with a passion for education, we offer excellent training and development opportunities.  Our in house education is led by our Creative Director James (Redken Certified Colourist and UK Redken Artist) and supported by our most experienced stylists who have worked at the highest level in London’s leading salons.

This position would suit a highly motivated, positive senior stylist who wants to be a member of a great team at very busy salon and have the opportunity to continue to develop their career .

Qualifications:

Minimum NVQ Level 2 in Hairdressing or equivalent

Technical skills:

We are seeking a stylist with extensive experience and the highest standard of skills in the following techniques:

  • Styling & cutting
  • All aspects of colouring including correction (knowledge of Redken colour is an advantage)
  • Chemical straightening (preferred but not essential)
  • Kerastraight treatments (preferred but not essential)
  • Hair up styles (preferred but not essential)
  • Perming (preferred but not essential)

Personal skills:

  • Excellent customer service skills

  • Strong communication skills
  • High level of accuracy and attention to detail
  • Good organisation skills
  • Good product knowledge and retail skills
  • Good time management skills

Key Responsibilities:

  • Cutting and colouring (and/or perming/straightening/hair up as skills allow)
  • Building a client base through excellent service
  • Prescribe correct care products to all clients
  • Detailed knowledge of retail product ranges offered
  • Will have a full knowledge of all the services and prices offered

CONDITIONS:

The position is full time (around 35 hours per week) and we offer a generous total package consisting of a fixed salary plus commission with 28 days of paid holiday

  • The salon is open 7 days a week with late opening on Wednesdays and Thursdays
  • The position requires the applicant to work five days a week with days off assigned on a rotating basis

Training:

We are committed to the highest quality of staff training and personal development. A training and development plan is agreed during the first 3 months of employment and reviewed as part of the appraisal process. Training typically takes place both at L’Oreal/Redken Exchange in London, GHD Academy in Soho or in Salon.

Apprentice Stylist (Hairdressing Assistant Jobs Brighton / Salon Assistant Jobs Brighton)

As one of Brighton’s leading hair salons North Laine Hair Company is now recruiting for this year’s apprenticeship intake at its salon in the heart of the busy and fashionable North Laine district of Brighton.  Vacancies exist for apprentice stylists who want to work as part of a dynamic, creative and successful team at an independent salon with a reputation for excellence.

The apprentice training programme is very important to our salon and is led by the Salon Director who will both train and mentor you in all aspects of your personal development. You will also have the opportunity to work alongside a team of some of the best stylists in Brighton who will support your training and development in cutting, styling and colouring.  North Laine Hair Company enables our stylists to become expert cutting and colouring technicians so you are able to express your full creativity as a stylist once qualified (Many other leading salon groups require stylists to choose either cutting or colouring once qualified). As a Redken & ghd elite salon you will have the opportunity to be trained by some of the best educators in the industry.

We are looking to recruit a creative and passionate individual who learns quickly and has a strong desire to work to the highest professional standards. No previous experience is necessary as full training will be provided.  You will be trained initially to NVQ level 2 whilst receiving your apprenticeship salary.  On completion of your NVQ level 2, if selected, you will have the opportunity to progress to NVQ Level 3 and be entered to join the ghd junior artistic team (Style Squad).

This position would suit a highly motivated individual who has a passion for the industry and a strong desire to develop their skills to the level of an excellent graduate stylist and beyond.

Qualifications

Minimum 5 GCSE passes (incl. English, Maths & Science) or equivalent

Training Content

You will be trained to exceed NVQ level 2 in the following areas through a combination of practical training in salon and theory in conjunction with the local college:

  • How to perform consultations
  • Shampoo and conditioning technique
  • Fundamentals of & cutting (sectioning, club cuts, layering, graduation, fringes, texturising)
  • Fundamentals of styling (wet & dry setting, blow drying, curling & straightening with irons, plaits, basic hair up styles)
  • Fundamentals of colouring (tints, high/low lights)
  • Perming
  • Front of house
  • Hair care product knowledge
Conditions
  • The position is a paid full time position (5 days a week incl. weekend working)
  • In salon training takes place once every week
  • Staff discount on products and hair services
  • You will receive 28 days annual paid holiday (including bank holidays)
